Red Sox: Through the month of July

Image
The month of July was a critical stretch for the Boston Red Sox, overall the team went 15-7 climbing from a .500 record that really showed all the way to being 7 games above 500. The Baseball club is flawed, at the end of the day, they are a flawed club, they have issues with injuries, shortsop has been a question all year, along wit h depth at starting pitching. The team has definite issues but somehow they always get you to come back and believe in them again. This month in particular has been a breakout. Sweeping the Atlanta Braves taking two of three from the Texas Rangers, 2 of three from the talented New York Mets, sweeping the Toronto Blue Jays,  This Club has shown they can contend with the best of the World Series contenders.     Once the Red Sox get you really excited about what is to come from Fenway, their foot comes right off the gas. The Red Sox will crumble against the teams that are scheduled wins. After the Sox took...

Bergeron Retires

Image
On July 25th 2023 Patrice Bergeron made it official, that his 19th season in the league was going to be his last. Before officially hanging up the skates for good the center in his last season brought 27 goals on 58 points and a stunning 35 plus minus. He was the captain of the black and gold and was the greatest two way center in the history of the sport never mind on the ice currently. Bergeron was a face off menace and would bring the defensive intensity that the Bruins god line needed. Being Hall, Bergeron, and Pasternak. A perfect complimentary piece to David Pasternak that in turn would lead Pasta to a 61 goal season.                 The Bruins lost serious momentum in their playoff series against the Florida Panthers due to Bergeron being hurt. Now moving forward without him the bruins have a hole in center. Pavel Zacha will likely step into the first line as lea...

Bill on the hot seat? Stop it...

Image
Bill Belichick is the greatest coach of all time he has coached for 48 years professionally and has been the head coach of the New England Patriots for 23 years. Belichick has 31 wins in the playoffs along with 298 wins all time. Putting Belichick up to 329 total wins 19 short of Don Shula at 347 total wins. Belichick was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 1991-1995, followed by being the defensive head coach from 1997-1999 for the New York Jets. Until he landed with the Patriots in the year 2000 and won 6 super bowl championships on 9 super bowl appearances. 13 appearances in the AFC championship game. and 17 AFC East division titles. Belichick was the coach of the year 3 times and paired with Tom Brady became the greatest duo in all of professional sports. Tom on the offense and Bill on the defense.      The notion of Bill Belichick being on the hot seat is pure comedy...     Click bait being driven by th...

Jaylen Brown will sign the Supermax Extension

Image
During my camping trip off the grid one of the largest thoughts in the back of my mind was if Jaylen Browns Supermax contract was done. I learned when I returned that Brown and the Celtics negotiations had came to a pause, largely not due to disagreements just do to Jaylen going to vacation in Europe. The reports regarding the extension are that both sides are in agreement on the money its just other perks that could come into play and what Brown qualifies for. For example a no trade clause is not possible but percentage of team cap is higher based on his All NBA selection.     Breaking news on the Bay State Sports Blog... Jaylen Brown was just spotted in Dorchester, Brown took on a new project on Felon Street Dorchester to redesign a new basketball court for the kids of Dorchester. Brown was quoted saying "this is one small example of these things happening in Boston, as long as I'm here these things will...

Triston Casas is the next big thing

Image
It would be very easy to be negative on the Sox today, they went on a 11-2 stretch the best in baseball in July, they climbed into 4th place in the American League East, with distance on the New York Yankees. In typical Sox fashion in a critical series against the worst team in Baseball the Sox would lose the series. A very damaging turnout for the Boston Red Sox, while I could pile on, with how brutal this is for their upcoming schedule and how it can affect the wild card race, today I am here to write to you about Triston Casas, and exactly what I see from him and what he could be for this club.      Triston Casas was selected 26th overall by the Boston Red Sox in 2018, he spent his first two years with the Salem Red Sox, he bounced between Worcester and Portland during 2021 and 2022, until he was ready for the big leagues this year as the starting 1st baseman for the Boston Red Sox. At this point Casas's still largest flaw...

Boston Bruins Blow it up!

Image
I have regurgitated at nauseum the level of choke the 2023 Bruins brought to the picture of the latest NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. This really is the main storyline for Boston Hockey at the moment. Their former head coach went on to win the cup with the Golden Knights, Patrice Bergeron is still undecided on committing to another NHL season with the Bruins or without. The Bruins traded super star Taylor Hall in a salary dump to free up cap space to retain key players they acquired at the trade deadline. Then Tyler Bertuzzi signed with the Toronto Maple Leaf's... The Bruins legitimately looked shell shocked going into this off season. They went all in at the deadline as they should and then got upset and have flopped hard losing assets left and right.     This is all happening because the bruins are having serious problems with the salary cap. This is because the bruins are refusing to drop either on of their goalies. They...

Will Mac Jones make the Leap?

Image
Mac Jones was the 5th ranked prospect coming out of the 2021 NFL draft from the Alabama system. Jones out of 30 games Jones went 28-2 his rookie year Mac Jones was the only quarterback in the 2021 class that would make the pro bowl under Josh McDaniel's as offensive coordinator. In his rookie year Jones had a passer rating of 92..5 on 3,801 yards in the air, 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in all 17 games of his rookie year. Not bad at all especially for a rookie qb in the NFL, I/m not here to make excuses, last year was bad... his passer rating in 2022 dropped to 84.8 touchdowns dropped well down to 14, along with 11 interceptions. Mac's passing yards dropped all the way down to 2,937 yards. It was bad it can't sugar coated.      Mac Jones at the end of the day is not free completely from a slice of the blame pie, btu the argument that he takes on a significant if not the largest slice is preposterous, the incompetence co...
