Week 6: Pats/Raiders
The New England Patriots fell once again in action at allegiant stadium. At this point for the Patriots the NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching and its time to make some hard decisions on the team. The Patriots lost the 2 games on the schedule they were supposed to win. Granted New Orleans defense looks better and better every week matched against your pitiful offense how likely was that win really? This matchup however with the Las Vegas Raiders who bottom feed in the AFC West , have Max Crosby as their only viable defensive player, this is the one you needed to have.
Mac looked a little better in this game, he is still the worst QB in the league right now, not all of it is on him but he also is playing like the worst QB right now. Mac threw another pick early in the game and through for 200 yards. In the first two games of the season Mac Jones was playing exceptionally well, at this point he looks like a broken player, and it is sad to see. Jones could be one of these pieces at the deadline because I think the kid would thrive in the right spot especially after the chip on his shoulder from his time spent in New England.
Stevenson and Elliot did their best once again to do damage on the ground. Ezekiel Elliot had one massive carry that almost a complete breakaway, it would be called back from another penalty on the offense line. This would be a theme throughout the afternoon, the Patriots had 10 penalties for 79 total yards. The Patriots are already with 1 arm tied behind their back with the talent on offense. When they add 10 penalties they take away a leg aswell, it is just incredibly hard to win football games like this. Rhamondre Stevenson looked to be going all out in this game but he would go down with an injury for a bit.
The Receivers were tough man, the Oakland Corner & safety room is nothing to write home about and once again Kendrick Bourne is the only receiver getting any sort of production done. Part of it definitely has to come back to Bill O'Brien who has failed to scheme anything for Mike Gesicki, they have Gesicki running blocks when he is a worse blocker than Jonnu Smith was. The team is using him incorrectly and they about as flawed as it gets on the offensive side, match that with an injury riddled defense, and a special team core packed with rookies and this is about what you should expect.
When it comes to DeVante Parker... I have seen enough, at the end of that game, Parker pays his bills, feeds his family and makes his living off of those catches. He is the Wide Receiver 1, that the Patriots extended, his entire job is to make that play, that is all he does for the team. Parker could not even do that, DeVante Parker got hit in the hands running in stride and purely dropped the pass. He needs to make that play and he failed to do so... he failed to even lay out for it! Followed by the comments from him post game... I am ready to cut him from the team. Parker refused to take accountability for his mistake, decided to be wise and lash out at the reporters who are just doing their jobs. I have seen enough of DeVante Parker he can go.
The 2023 NFL season is in an absolute free fall for the New England Patriots, They have lost to the teams they were supposed to lose to. Along with lost to the teams they were supposed to beat, they have 1 win barely against the New York Jets. The Patriots have the Buffalo Bills at home this Sunday followed by the Miami Dolphins in Hard Rock Stadium. The narrative regarding the Trade Deadline and the New England Patriots grows stronger with each loss, keep your eyes on it...
