Week7 Pats/Bills

The upset of the year! The New England Patriots have taken down the Buffalo Bills in their first matchup of the season improving their record to 2-5 as opposed to a nail in the coffin 1-6. This was it for the Patriots and they took advantage of an undisciplined Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots defense played a pretty good game taking Stefon Diggs out for the majority of it. My one gripe was they could not make tackles... like at all in this game. Buffalos tight ends, Knox and Kincaid were the main weapons for Buffalo so taking Diggs out of the picture for most of the game was pivotal for Belichick showing yes, he still has it.

This game was massive for Mac Jones, who has taken incredible heat this season, from the sack tap, to the Dallas blowout, to the New Orleans shellacking to the Raiders loss, Mac Jones has been getting pummeled left and right on and off the field, in some spots rightfully so... he has not been great but it felt that the entire offense was just being used incorrectly which indeed all will comeback to the quarterback. Praised in the wins, blamed in the losses.

First off, a look at Mike Onwenu moving him from guard to tackle, works incredibly better, Onwenu is so much more reliable on the line at tackle then who we have trotted out there. Sidy Sow and Antonio Mafi are way to green for starting roles at the moment, Vederian Lowe is just getting beat every snap, Reiff and Anderson are wicked old and can't stay healthy. Onwenu played tackle in his rookie year and played well, He just fills the role so much better, with Brown at left.

Secondly, forget DeVante Parker, he is not the WR1, its Demario Douglas. Pop Douglas whenever he gets the opportunity he is extending the play. The kid's lighting speed and footwork combined with great hands makes him an absolute weapon for the Patriots. Mike Gesicki is another player that was being used in completely the wrong role. Gesicki is one of the worst blocking Tight Ends in the league, along with being one of the best pass catching Tight Ends in the league. Of course the Patriots had been using him in blocking all season until this game where they utilized him as a tertiary weapon, and he was phenomenal catching the game winning touchdown for the Patriots.

Thirdly and honestly most importantly, the Patriots finally established the Run. In reality the Patriots offense runs through Rhamondre Stevenson. The Patriots need him to dominate on  the ground to check the defense that there is a legitimate threat on the ground. Stevenson was an absolute menace in this game breaking tackles left and right, finally looking ;like the 2022 Rhamondre Stevenson. If Stevenson can build off this game and return to his potential of being the number 1 back in the league it will open up the entire offense.  With Rhamondre dominating on the ground, it will open up Bourne to damage in the slot, Gesicki in routes or Douglas over the top. With the improvements from the line its possible that this could happen and the Patriots could put on a show for their fans going forward in the 2023 season.

The magnitude of this win cannot be understated the Patriots were at the cross roads of Crash for Caleb and Pray for Maye, essentially sell all their pieces at the deadline and lose every game, punt on the season to hop into the QB carousel to see which top prospect could work out for the franchise. The Patriots taking down the Superbowl contending Buffalo Bills, changes all of that, it is still close though. In order to prove all the haters wrong the Patriots will need to prove it was not a fluke, they go down to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Florida to play another prohibited super bowl contender, the Miami Marlins. If the Patriots can put up another statement W this team could be quite the watch for weeks to come. Tip off is Sunday October 29th, 1pm, its must watch TV...
