Patriots: Can we land Deandre Hopkins?

The New England Patriots next week are scheduled to have a free agency visit with the one and only Deandre Hopkins! It really is only in Boston where a market would try to twist and push a narrative of the notion of signing an elite pass catcher such as Hopkins would be a net negative. In the 2022 NFL season Hopkins had been nursing injuries to his Knee and hamstring, he would play 9 games and still be the number 1 option for a Kyler Murray implosion.; The Arizona Cardinals completely flamed out since the 2021 regular season where they looked like a legit threat in a then pretty stacked NFC West.

Hopkins through 9 games played reached 717 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns while being the number 1 option defenses would be focused on. I know these stats may not blow you out of the water. If you look at the chaos that was the Arizona Cardinals there is more to the story. In terms of a rotating door when it comes to quarterbacks, head coaches and even general managers!

Regarding the age argument. At 31 it is natural to be skeptical but just take a minute and look at the other elite weapons. Stefon Diggs is at 29, Beckham Jr. is 30 and Devante Adams is 30. They're all around the same age and with the modern sports science its reasonable to say there is still more in the tank. Just look at what these dynamic weapons are bringing to theyre teams, elite pass threat that can take the top off the defense. Without Diggs Josh Allen is the only threat that Bills adversaries have to worry about.

The addition of Bill O'Brien will bring a more creative style to an offense that will be more then competent it should be reliable to score down the field. The worry fans bring to the thought of Deandre Hopkins is the drama from the past between O'Brien and Hopkins back playing for the Houston Texans. If any person, coach human, could mend that fence it would be the greatest of all time Bill Belichick.

Now to look at what Deandre Hopkins can bring the New England Patriots. This is an elite pass catcher. A receiver that for the first time in the whole post Brady era where opposing defenses have to really keen on. In turn your other receivers will thrive. Having Devante Parker, not facing the number 1 corner every game will let him thrive. Tyquan Thorton will be able to beat CB 2's and 3's. And you already have great YAK slot guys in Bourne and Smith Shuster, This adds different dynamic threats to Bill O'Brien's playbook. Allowing Mac Jones to thrive. 4 legit outside guys, 2 great pass catching Tight ends and a running back about to have a break out year. This signing would be massive to the patriots contending the East and potentially taking it over.
