Patriots: 2023 Off Season

The New England Patriots 2023 regular season was am excruciating experience to to be apart of. Highlighting an incompetent offense and offensive coordinator that really was thrown into a spot he just wasn't ready for. Yes Matt Patricia did not belong in that seat. Honestly though that wasn't the whole problem, Joe Judge was another case, a coach in a role that just did not add up. If you saw what the New York Giants looked like during and after the tenor of Joe Judge as QB Coach it is a drastic difference. Mac Jones is the next head of the dramatic downfall who really had no line no weapons and no support from the coaching staff, fans, and his own teammates. This all leads to our last figure in this demonstrative down fall, the Greatest of all time, Bill Belichick. It really all comes back to Bill who drafted Mac Jones, hired Matt Patricia and hired Joe Judge. Belichick's finer prints are all over the 2023 season. This all lead to the great division of the New England Patriots locker room, for the first time in the Belichick era the locker room was divided the teammates that knew Mac had a raw deal and the players that would do anything for the greatest coach of all time.

The last season was filled with lots of anger and stress and it was a downfall of a once legendary dynasty. The season prior led to the great humbling of Pats nation to take a long hard look at just what they were dealing with for they're spot in the conversation of contenting in the National Football League.

Alas we pick up the scraps of the maddening season address the issues that plagued the team build an identity a winning formula and do the best we can to contend in this league. With they're first round pick the patriots got potentially the greatest cornerback in the draft. Christian Gonzales is the Corner out of Oregon State, who is 6.2  200lbs bringing length and speed. In his last college season he got 4 picks and turned them into 118 yards. Gonzales was a projected top 10 pick that fell into Belichick's lap after trading down to 17 overall. It shows that Bill knows  the identity of the Patriots defense, whether you like it or not whether its a modern style or not the Patriots are building around Matthew Judon and Josh Uche. Two elite pass rushers, now adding Gonzales as the CB1 the jobs of Jonathon Jones Jack Jones and Kyle Dugger gets much easier. The Patriots can run a man defense against the very best pass first style of play that is running rampant in the league right now.

Offensively the upgrade of Bill O'Brien cannot be overlooked. The Patriots offense should look much better this year around. Belichick believes in the pieces he has on the offensive end and the talent they have. The one question definitely comes back to the offensive line. The line was atrocious last year. Despite it Rhamondre Stevenson had the season of his career being a swiss army knife, catching screen passes and steam rolling defensive tackles infront of him. Legitimately last year all the offense needed was to have a semblance of competence and with they're defense they would have made the playoffs. With the addition of Bill O'Brien the Patriots will be much more than competent, they should be a more creative offense that makes this team a legit threat in the AFC.
