Week 4: Pats/Cowboys
The New England Patriots have just been dealt the worst loss of Bill Belichicks career. The Patriots went down to AT&T stadium and got absolutely PANTSED by the Dallas Cowboys. The Patriots put up 3 points in the thrashing and never once looked to be in a position to have a say in the matter other than the first drive of the game. The Patriots got destroyed, the final score was 38-3 the team looks to have taken steps back and are possibly worse than they were last year. If matters could not get any worse the Patriots two best players have gone down with injuries indefinitely. Star Edge Rusher Matthew Judon went down with a bicep tear. He hopes to return to the team as soon as he can he will likely miss at least the next two months of the season. Rookie sensation and defense player of the year candidate Christian Gonzales ; Cornerback went down with a dislocated shoulder injury, he could possibly miss the rest of the season aswell. So if this loss could not get any worse the best players on the Patriots have now gone down, it will take what looks like at this point.. a miracle for the New England Patriots to make the playoffs.
The stable last season for the New England offense was Rhamondre Stevenson, there are questions of why it looks that he has taken a step back so far this season. It feels that Ezekiel Elliot has outperformed him every week. This should not be the case. With his struggles means more is asked of the Pass game and now we have to look at Mac Jones and his performance in this game. This was the first game where it looked like Mac had been a full on liability to the Patriots offense in an NFL game. For his entire career Mac had never been so good that he would win a game for the Patriots he was also never so bad that he would cost the Patriots a game. That was until this week, Mac Jones was a liability he was shook the Dallas Cowboys made him afraid out there. Don't get me wrong I hate having to write about this but the state of the team may be at an all time low. Mac Jones had a terrible fumble along with two interceptions that would lead to touchdowns for the Dallas Cowboys. There should have been 3 picks thrown but it just looked that Jones had been forcing throws and plays that just were not there. The question becomes even stronger now after this game... Is Mac Jones the next franchise Quarterback for the New England Patriots... is he the Guy?
When it comes down to Mac Jones it is year 3 and this is most likely his last shot with the Patriots if they cannot re write the ship and steer into contention for a playoff spot. He was so bad in this game that he got benched for Bailey Zappe again who has just shown that he is not even on the same level as Mac. Someone to keep your eyes on is Will Greer who the Patriots recently picked up. If Will Greer starts seeing snaps or Malik Cunningham then Mac Jones career with the New England Patriots is most likely finished. When it comes to Mac he was a first round pick and when you select a quarterback at the top of the first round he needs to elevate the players around him... as opposed to the Brock Purdy experience in San Francisco where the entire roster is built out around him and he has the game of the NFL on easy mode,.
The New England Patriots have fallen to 1-3 on the season last week we mentioned on the Bay State Pats Recap that the Jets were a hair away from defeating the Patriots so it really was close to the Pats falling to 0-4. Neverminded if Aaron Rodgers was playing the Pats would be easily 0-4 at this point. Alas the New England Patriots host the New Orleans Saints and most likely Jameis Winston due to the Derek Carr injury. The Patriots two best players will not be in this game so it will not be an easy win I see it being a very close game. The Patriots have no other choice this week. The MUST win this Sunday. The Pats have one of the hardest schedules in the league and they have a stretch here where it is light. The New Orleans Saints in Foxborough need to lose. There is no other way about it. Kickoff is at 1pm its a must win...
