Cassidy Revenge tour!
As I publish my latest blog on the old black and gold, the former coach of our beloved Boston Bruins has stuck it to Jake Debrusk, he stuck it to David Krejci and of course Patrice Bergeron, need I mention Don Sweeney! Bergeron used his veteran presence to get Cassidy out of town. Mac Jones knows best if your not getting coached hard are you really learning and being coached at all. The Boston Bruins became a regular season machine that had like we saw in 2019 a peak fines style offense only this time they went all in at the deadline, pushing all they're chips into the middle. The Boston Bruins, brought in Orlov, Hathaway, and Bertuzzi, giving up mainly future assets and who really could blame them! The Bruins had a historic season, and yet after seeing Cassidy win let the pain reap more, a historic collapse;.
Its finally over however, while it may have been nice during the regular season, the pain of such a collapse reaps just that much more. The Stanley Cup playoffs are different then any other of Americas professional sports. As the kids say if you don't have that "dawg" in you you are not going any where! Without a Matthew Tkachuk or a Jack Eichel type of player. Don't get me wrong David Pasternak could be an eventual dawg but at the moment he seems to just be a very skilled player, but doesn't have the same hatred of failure as his adversaries that went deeper in the 2023 playoffs. One can only hope that after the biggest choke in all of sports history David Pasternak, Don Sweeney and the Boston Bruins can wake up! That they can realize the potential on they're roster and go on to win the cup in 2024.
While Bruce Cassidy may have been a hard coach to play for, a disciplined minded head coach could get old after a while. Once humility leaves the roster the players lose respect for the process of building good habits through not just the regular season but also through the playoffs. Jack Eichel and the Golden Knights know that Cassidy was a championship level coach. Unfortunately the old core of Marchand, Krejci and Bergeron brought too much sway in the organization and decided to make Cassidy "disappear" while it can be argued that Jim Montgomery was an upgrade. When it mattered most and the lights were brightest Jim Montgomery, was in pure panic. Montgomery let Bergeron play when he was hurt in a meaningless game against the Montreal Canadians. When Linus Ullmark was clearly hurt he stuck with the shambled Vesna over the perfectly fine Swayman. And lets not forget whenever the Bruins were in a sense of urgency it was pure panic and every line was changed, truly a level beyond tinkering. After seeing the coach you let go win incase the greatest choke of all time did not sting enough hopefully now it seeps in just enough, time as not good in Boston! One can only hope 2024 is our year.
