Bruins: Where do we go from here?

The 2008 New England Patriots took the throne of the biggest choke in sports history from the 1986 Boston Red Sox. The throne was just stolen again... by another Boston team! The Boston Bruins have stolen the throne from the New England Patriots for the greatest choke in all of sports history. The 2023 Boston Bruins were the greatest team in regular season history. The Bruins had locked up the one seed in early march and had one objective which was to prepare, prepare and prepare some more for the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. While the Celtics had individual accolades they were chasing the Bruins had history they were chasing They knocked off the tied Detroit Red Wings and Tampa Bay Lightning at 62 wins. The Bruins crushed it at a whopping 65 total wins. Following this The Bruins took down the Montreal Canadians as well in total points scored at 132 in 1972. The 2023 Bruins hit 135 total points. The 23 Bruins had hit the most wins and most points ever in a season in the same season. and guess what?

None of that matters!

The Bruins would go on to play the Florida Panthers and split the series at home. The Bruins would go up 3-1 in the first round. Followed by a collapse of extreme magnitude. Led by fierce captain of the Panthers Matt Tkachuk and they're goalie who was just on a complete tear Sergei Bobrovsky. The Bruins came out flat and it really showed. Now they missed Patrice Bergeron a lot in the series. You could see how Florida was just dominating all of the face offs. Even when Bergeron came back he was really just a shell of himself. Taylor Hall and Tyler Bertuzzi played honestly exceptional throughout the series really stepping up when needed. The biggest problem was the two pillars behind all the success this year for the bruins. David Pasternak and Linus Ullmark. David Pasternak disappeared in this series! Pasternak would force so many shots and he was a turnover machine! This is coming from a Pasternak fan mind you... Matthew Tkachuk owned David Pasternak in this series. He bullied and destroyed stole his lunch money all of it. Pasternak just could not keep up with the grit of Matt Tkachuk. Followed by Linus Ullmark who really just never felt the urgency of the situation. A lot I feel comes back to Jim Montgomery who had this team focused on narratives and history over the main goal of the team and the city. Raising the cup.

Bruins ownership has some questions to answer going into the 23-24 season. I believe sell high on Linus Ullmark you can recover a lot of the assets you gave up at the deadline, Jeremy Swayman is a potential Vesna in waiting if he is a starter on a team this stacked. Keep Bertuzzi The Bruins gave up a lot for Tyler Bertuzzi a 1st and a 4th round pick. That can't just be for just this play off run.; Its time to add to center depth I would bet that this was the last we have seen of Patrice Bergeron. Hopefully the Bruins can learn from this and hoist that cup next year. Instead of sitting at home watching either Matt Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers or Bruce Cassidy and the Las Vegas Golden Knights
