Bruins: In the event Bergeron retires

Patrice Bergeron is one of one, he potentially the greatest two way center of all time. He could play defense better than any center and play make score the puck with everybody else. Not to mention the face off advantage that he always brought winning almost every face off he took the team missed him lots this year in the playoffs. The great Patrice Bergeron has represented exclusively the Boston Bruins in his 20 year career, it looks like exclusively he will in his entire NHL career. After 20 years it would look definitely possible that he would retire. Not saying for sure that I know that it is a done deal that Bergeron retires, although this post is in the event that after 20 years and the greatest choke of all time there is a possibility that the great center Patrice Bergeron retires.

Looking at potential replacements at center that a win now Boston Bruins could acquire. Firstly you need to look at Pierre-Luc Dubois. Dubois is a star for the Winnipeg Jets at only 24 years old. He had 63 points in his last season on 27 goals. Dubois would come in as a real playmaker and this could set up David Pasternak once again as the main goal scorer for the club.

Elias Lindholm is another name I gathered from The Skate Podcast. I did some research on Lindholm and he had 64 points on 22 goals. He is 28 years old and plays for the Calgary Flames. Lindholm is an older player but the same style of setup for Pasternak. Points first over goals with defense. The reality is in the market right now trading to recoup a Patrice Bergeron exact replacement is not feasible. A center that can bring that level of playmaking scoring defense and face off does not exist in the sport right now.

Not to say there is no way to replace Bergeron within the system in place. The Boston Bruins have Pavel Zacha in the system right now. Zacha has mirrored his game to Bergeron and studied film on Bergeron to develop his game to bring the same level of defense that Bergeron can bring. Zacha had 57 points on 21 goals and eventually could develop to bring the same fire that Bergeron brought. There are also moves to make for the Boston Bruins in the draft to address the center. The Bruins could sell high on one of there goalies. Whether it be Ullmark the reigning Vesna or Swayman a potential Vesna. This comes because "it is easier to find goalies then centers" (Brian DeFelice) There is potential the Bruins sell high on one of they're assets to bring in a center that they like and develop and mold them into being a miracle talent like the great Patrice Bergeron.
